Day of Thanks
Thanksgiving Day in Elmwood Park, Downtown Roanoke The TLOT Village, along with our friends at the Samaritan Inn, was blessed to host a great Day of Thanksgiving. Our unsheltered friends enjoyed an amazing Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, and more dessert than we could count. Each table was filled with guests who expressed their appreciation many times for the amazing meal! Check out our Facebook page for pictures of the 2020 event. |

Annual Hustle for the Homeless 5K Family Fun Run/Walk
Traditionally held in May in Downtown Roanoke
The Hustle for the Homeless 5K Family Fun Run/Walk is an annual fundraising event that boasts a unique out-and-back route and takes participants through the streets of Downtown Roanoke, passing several historical landmarks along the way.
“The purpose of the Hustle for the Homeless is two-fold,” says TLOT founder Dawn Sandoval. “The first purpose is to create awareness for the issue of homelessness in the Roanoke Valley. The second is to raise money so we can offer resources to the men and women living on the streets and hopefully help them find affordable housing.
For competitive runners, awards will be presented to the top three finishing males and the top 3 finishing females. Age group awards will also be presented. For more information, check out the 2020 Hustle for the Homeless Facebook Event Page.
In 2019, over 350 people ran, walked, or volunteered in the 5K thus supporting our mission to meet men and women living on the streets and serve them where they are with spiritual, physical, and emotional support in the name of Jesus Christ.

Dining with Dignity
Traditionally held in September in the Century Plaza, Downtown Roanoke
Dining with Dignity is a dining event organized with the sole purpose of showing love to Roanoke’s homeless by serving them a 3-course meal with no strings attached.
“What can I possibly say about today...but GOD?!! As we prepared for our Dining with Dignity event, we were drenched by heavy rain! But...then the rain stopped and, alongside the most AHmazing group of volunteers, we served 100 people a 3-course meal! It was the most amazing and moving experience EVER! There are no words to express how grateful we are to every single person that donated food and other items, served our friends, helped set up and clean up in torrential rain and those that prayed for us and our friends! A million times THANK YOU! We are grateful for this community! The chalkboard photo is a beautiful example of those being served and those serving coming together as ONE people group....human beings created by God! I am humbled and blessed!” -Dawn Sandoval
