Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. -Matthew 25:4

MEETING NEEDS
Operating as a “gap ministry” to meet needs that other homeless services in the area are unable to meet, the TLOT team is constantly evaluating how to better serve our unsheltered friends.
In January, we created an innovative way to provide a place of refuge during nights when temperatures are below 40 degrees. With many cold nights in 2022, we have been utilizing a donated 26-passenger van as a warming bus. We have been blessed to serve an average of 10 to 17 friends per night with warmth, safety, and a place to get some rest. The bus is stocked with blankets and snacks as well!
In addition to our new warming bus service, we have also housed 8 people since January! We have also helped two people reunite with a support system in another city or town by purchasing two Greyhound tickets.
TLOT continues to open its facility three days a week to allow our unsheltered friends to have access to showers and laundry facilities. Volunteers also offer lunch and refreshments on these days.
We continue to strive to meet the basic needs of our unsheltered friends and we have big hopes for the future! These dreams will require additional funding, so we are seeking any available grant opportunities. If you are aware of available grants, feel free to share them with us!
Thank you all for being a part of this village. We will keep you posted as developments occur!

MISSION MOMENTS
With help from our village, sometimes TLOT needs to go above and beyond our usual services to help our unsheltered friends. In February, it became apparent that one of our friends needed medical care to address a foot injury. We were able to provide her transportation to the hospital where she ended up needing surgery to remove part of her foot. TLOT is working to find housing for her so she can continue her recovery. Please join us in prayer for her healing.

MINISTRY PRAISES
As soon as the weather started getting colder this winter, our unsheltered friends noted that they were running out of hot water during showers. This eventually led to an amazing gift of a new tankless water heater! Now the facility has an unlimited supply of hot water.
In addition, TLOT will also benefit from a second donated refrigerator which will be used to store lunch items. We are celebrating these wonderful ministry praises!
Are you curious how our building is setup to offer services to the homeless community? Do you want to see how your donations are impacting the lives of others? Would you like to tour the TLOT facility? Reach out to us on Facebook or email to schedule a time to visit.

The Least of These Ministry is a gap ministry that strives to make a positive difference in the lives of the homeless community in the Roanoke Valley. Its mission is to meet men and women living on the streets and serve them with spiritual, physical, and emotional support in the name of Jesus Christ. This is only possible because of the continued support we receive from our village in the way of financial donations, donated items, volunteering, and prayer. Thank you for being a part of our village!
