Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. -Matthew 25:4

MEETING NEEDS
The Least of These Ministry has been very busy this year meeting the needs of our homeless community in different ways.

So far, TLOT has been blessed to assist SIX people with securing housing! Among those that have found housing have been an expectant mother who was living in her car, a single mom and her pre-teen son who were also living in their car, and a young man who was living in an outdoor shed. Each of these people were employed but did not have the finances to secure housing. We feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to help all six of them move into their own home and provide them with furnishings.

In April, TLOT facilitated donations for a family who lost their home in a fire. Once this family is able to secure a new home, they will also be provided furniture items if it is needed.

Throughout the year, TLOT has continued to meet the street level needs from the ministry truck four to five nights a week. We were also blessed to host several Thankful Thursdays meals, thanks to many amazing volunteers!

MISSION MOMENTS
In March, we were contacted by the Roanoke City Police about a gentleman with severe wounds on both feet and needed shoes. At that time, the gentleman was unwilling to pursue medical attention. Before heading out to the campsite in the ministry truck, we contacted our friend, Dr. Jack Perkins who is a very compassionate local ER doctor. He agreed to meet us at the homeless camp to assess the situation and offer recommendations.

After visual examination of the wounds, with his kind and compassionate demeanor, he encouraged the gentleman to come see him at the ER the following day to get the care he desperately needed. The gentleman complied and, in the days following his ER visit, TLOT assisted with transportation to medical appointments to continue the treatment for his serious wounds. He is now in housing and receiving much needed medical care. Due to the concerted effort between RCPD, TLOT, and Dr. Perkins, our friend is on the path to recovery!

NEW SPACES TO GROW
TLOT has been working hard to prepare a new space that will allow us to serve our unsheltered friends in new ways!

Our new facility has enough space to store all of our pantry and furniture items in one place. It includes an office area to meet with our homeless friends regarding housing, identification assistance, and more.
The new building boasts a shower and laundry facilities so our unsheltered friends can maintain their hygiene. Since opening, these services have been highly utilized. Our unsheltered friends are beyond grateful for the availability of these services!

Words cannot convey what the support of this community means to our organization. We are humbled and grateful for every single individual, church, group, and organization that contributes to ensuring this mission continues to grow and thrive! May God bless each of you!
