“Hustle” Fundraiser will Help Men and Women Living on the Streets in the Roanoke Valley
WHAT? The 4th Annual Hustle for the Homeless 5K Fundraiser: A 5K run to raise money for The Least of These Ministry (TLOT).
* In an effort to follow social distancing guidelines, participants will be starting in waves to ensure adequate spacing at the starting line.
* The race will start runners in waves of 20.
* There will be markings on the ground where runners should stand at the start line.
* Awards will be presented to the top three finishing males, top three finishing females as well as those finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their age group.
* A virtual option is available for anyone who wishes to support this event but not yet ready to attend public events. Virtual participants do not qualify for awards as they are not chip-timed.
WHY?
“The purpose of the Hustle for the Homeless is two-fold,” says TLOT founder Dawn Sandoval. “The first purpose is to create awareness for the issue of homelessness in the Roanoke Valley. The second is to raise money so we can offer resources to the men and women living on the streets and hopefully help them find affordable housing.”
WHERE?
The race will begin on the corner of Marshall Avenue and 5th Street in Downtown Roanoke. Race participants and volunteers are asked to enter the First Baptist Church parking lot from Franklin Road. The race route will take participants through downtown Roanoke passing several historical landmarks along the way.
