“Homeless folks have nowhere to shower, they have nowhere to be hygienically safe from a virus that has killed 200,000."
We are Meeting Needs!
Fall is upon us! And we are all adjusting to our new normal during this pandemic, including our homeless friends. While cooler temperatures in September made it a little easier to live on the streets during the day, our homeless friends had to endure many cold and rainy nights. This month, with help from our amazing TLOT Village (you!), we are celebrating our accomplishments:
Fall is upon us! And we are all adjusting to our new normal during this pandemic, including our homeless friends. While cooler temperatures in September made it a little easier to live on the streets during the day, our homeless friends had to endure many cold and rainy nights. This month, with help from our amazing TLOT Village (you!), we are celebrating our accomplishments:
- We helped a gentleman put homelessness in his rear view mirror and moved him into his own home.
- We have been serving our homeless friends on the streets from the ministry truck three to four nights a week.
- We fed between 35-50 homeless friends during our two most recent Thankful Thursdays.
- We purchased two bus tickets to help homeless friends reunite with their loved ones in another state.
TLOT exists because of the love, prayer, and contributions of our amazing TLOT Village. Thank you for your role in our mission!
Colder Weather is Coming!
The colder weather is coming soon which makes it even more challenging to live on the streets. We are working to stock our ministry truck with cold weather gear to keep our unsheltered friends warm as they sleep outdoors. We invite you to take a look at our Amazon Wish List to see if you can help. Gloves, sweats, tents, and umbrellas are at the top of our list!

TLOT in the News!
WFXR recently asked TLOT to comment on a local news story about a popular spot in Roanoke where our homeless friends set up camp. We pray for these homeless friends who just need a place to lay their head down at night.
“Homeless folks have nowhere to shower, they have nowhere to be hygienically safe from a virus that has killed 200,000. People who are so much less fortunate, live outdoors regardless of the temperature, regardless of the conditions.” -Dawn Sandoval

Where does our Money Go?
TLOT exists because of the generous financial gifts we receive from our village. Many have wondered how much it costs for us to fulfill the different needs of our homeless friends. Check out these financial levels to see what your donations can fund:
$500 = Average housing deposit/initial rent
$100 = Weekly cost of TLOT ministry truck operation (fuel, inventory)
$ 75 = Cost of a hotel room in inclement weather
$ 50 = Cost toward the purchase of a bus ticket to reunite a homeless friend with their support system in another city/state.
Are you at a place where you can cover the cost of a housing deposit? Or help us operate the ministry truck? Or cover the cost of a hotel room during extreme weather conditions? Or purchase a bus ticket so one of our friends can reunite with a support system?
If circumstances allow and you feel led, we would be grateful for your support. Online donations can be made via PayPal or checks can be mailed to TLOT, 602 Marshall Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016. Lastly, we covet your prayers as we continue supporting our unsheltered friends during this pandemic.
