Can you imagine having no where to go during a country-wide pandemic? For possibly months?
We are in unprecedented times right now and most of us are feeling fearful of the uncertainty that lies ahead. Although our concerns are valid, there are others suffering on a much deeper level. Our homeless friends have no home in which to safely stay during this pandemic. COVID-19 has caused various policy changes at day shelters and the Rescue Mission causing many of our homeless friends to go without lunch and dinner. TLOT is also receiving a higher call volume from people who are facing homelessness because of job loss.
Adapting
With social distancing protocols in effect, TLOT is adapting to the increasing needs of our homeless friends in the best way we can.

- Thanks to the amazing support of our TLOT Village, we are on the streets daily, providing bagged lunches for our friends.
- With COVID-19 safety measures in place and public facilities closed, it has been a challenge for our homeless friends to find access to restrooms. As a result, TLOT reached out to several Roanoke City Council Members. Portable restrooms have been placed in two locations.
- Our prayers are taking shape in new ways as we continue serving our homeless friends in these unprecedented times.
A Safe Haven
Thanks to the support of this amazing village, we were able to house a mom and her two children who were homeless after fleeing domestic violence. We are beyond grateful for the way this community sees value in those we serve!

Hustle Update
We have decided to be proactive and postpone the third annual Hustle for the Homeless 5K & Family Fun Run/Walk. Mark your calendars and plan to join us on Saturday, August 22. Same place. Same time. Join us (run or walk) as the 3.1-mile course twists and turns through some of downtown Roanoke's most well-known streets. Race for awards or walk with friends and family while fighting homelessness!
