2020 Newsletter: December
12/31/2020
Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. -Matthew 25:4

Meeting Needs
While December is a busy month for most, it has been extra busy for TLOT! Busy in a good way!
With help from our TLOT Village (you!), we were blessed to:
* Help secure housing for 4 people! One sweet couple (pictured with permission) moved into their new apartment after living on the streets for ten months.
* Provide warmth in freezing cold temperatures by offering hotel rooms for many unsheltered friends on nights that were 20 degrees or colder.
* Secure a large furniture donation from an organization in Charlottesville. Your continued support helped cover travel expenses, truck rental and added storage rental fees. (More on this blessing below!)

God's Donation
TLOT was blessed to be one of the recipients of a large furniture donation from the Darden Inn at UVA! On December 12, a team of TLOT volunteers traveled to Charlottesville and loaded two 26-foot trucks with donations such as mattresses, box springs, microwaves, dressers, lamps and more! Then we had an additional team of volunteers that showed up to help unload the donations at the ministry storage. These donations will be used each time the ministry helps an unsheltered friend find housing. We are beyond grateful for the amazing furniture donation and the crew of volunteers who helped load and unload the trucks!

A Pay-It-Forward Story
One day this month, a gentleman came into a business managed by one of our ministry volunteers. After recognizing the volunteer, he shared that he used to be homeless and had received items from the ministry truck. He expressed sincere gratitude for TLOT and offered a cash donation to give back to the ministry.

2021 Thankful Thursday Signups

We are busily planning for Thankful Thursday in 2021. This is an opportunity for the community to provide and serve a meal for those suffering with homelessness. Held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month, Thankful Thursday is a great way for small groups to serve together. If you would like to sign your group up to provide a meal, check out our SignUp Genius.
