TLOT UNDERGOES MASSIVE RENOVATION

We are beyond blessed to have been the recipient of a massive renovation at our ministry building, located at 422 Luck Avenue! Our facility was closed for several weeks as Moore's Electrical and Mechanical, in conjunction with Blake Construction of VA, went to work to transform our facility to better serve the unsheltered community:
• Expanded our shower area from 3 showers to 6 showers • Expanded our laundry services from 3 washers to 6 washers and 3 dryers to 8 dryers • Installed brand new water heaters • Ran all new underground drainage As a result, this renovation has DOUBLED our capacity to serve the unsheltered in the Roanoke Valley! Our prayer is that, through this expansion project, we will have the capacity to fully and completely serve all of our homeless friends & that no need will go unmet. HUSTLE FOR THE HOMELESS CANCELED IN 2025
|
In March, we announced the unfortunate news that our annual fundraiser, Hustle for the Homeless 5K, would not take place this year. We were notified by the city of Roanoke that, due to circumstances beyond our control, we could not host the race on the streets of our valley. However, they offered for us to host the 5K on the Greenway.
“We were looking for some resolution to be able to continue to maintain our route, because, number one, it is symbolic of where the people that we serve live. We’ve been doing it. This would have been the eighth year on the same streets. And the other thing is that more runners were interested because the route was challenging. It wasn’t on the Greenway,” said Dawn Sandoval to WDBJ7. With this information in mind, please know that this community has been SO supportive of us and it is our heart’s desire to reinstate this race next year, if the city allows the use of the original street course. SUITES BY TLOT CELEBRATES ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Can you believe it has been one year since we cut the ribbon & opened the doors at the Suites by TLOT? Since the motel opened its doors in February 2024, we have served 74 guests!
“I really can’t put it into words. This motel has just blessed so many people, and I think it’s saved lives just as we look at the winter that we’re coming out of and folks were living in places that are not meant for human beings to withstand the cold and things like that. Recently, one our friend’s journey with homelessness ended as he settled in to his new address! From being unsheltered to being a guest at Suites by TLOT and, finally, landing in his new apartment, he is finally HOME. May God be glorified for orchestrating this rescue!

On the "Day of Love" (Valentine's Day) we LOVED getting to bless and move another friend into his OWN home! God is SO good! Thank you to our tribe for all of your love and support. We ARE making a difference…one life at a time!

We were beyond thankful to host this amazing group of young people from Bedrock Church Roanoke for a Serve Sunday! What a beautiful impact they made by working together to landscape, paint and clean up Suites by TLOT for our residents. We are so blessed to have a designated area at the ministry building to offer hair cuts to our unsheltered friends certain days of the month. A special shout out to Jessica who takes the time to give our friends a fresh ‘do & a word of prayer!

As we continue to serve our unsheltered friends by way of the facility, directly at the street level, and through Suites by TLOT, financial donations are vital to continue our mission. If you have a heart for people and have the availability, we would love to partner with you in service!
- Facility Volunteers – This role includes ensuring that our unsheltered guests get checked in and are provided with lunch and facilitating shower and laundry services on a Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday, from 11:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. or until closing duties are complete. We will gladly work with you to determine dates that work for you! If you're interested in volunteering, send us a message on Facebook messenger or you can email us at [email protected]!
- Loving Lunches – Volunteers are invited to purchase/prepare enough food for approximately 75-80 people and deliver to the TLOT headquarters, located at 422 Luck Avenue, by 12:00 noon. Through the provision of these "loving lunches," our friends will have the opportunity to enjoy a meal while waiting their turn to shower and/or launder their clothes.
